Mustang is actually a part of the Tibetan plateau, and is high, dry and beautiful. Mustang is a remote, semi-independent Tibetan kingdom within the territory of Nepal, and one of the last bastions of undistributed Tibetan culture in the world. This is one of the most popular trekking destinations for the traveler who would like to explore ancient monasteries and caves in a remote area and a beautiful landscape. Tiji festival is a three day annual ritual, centered on the Tiji myth which is also known as the chasing of the demons. This festival tells the story of a deity named Dorje Jono who combated against his devil father to save the kingdom of Mustang from devastation.
